I started painting. This is the painting that I started that is not interesting.

I ordered fake roaches online the other day. They just came in the mail yesterday. I want to make at least 500 cockroaches in clay. I thought I could order fake ones, take a mold of them and cast them. But I didn't like them, so I'm back to the drawing board, literally.

So I've started drawing roaches. I'm thinking about maybe sculpting the bodies and casting those and maybe making the extremities with another material so they wont be so fragile. While I'm on the subject of bugs, I've started a dead fly collection. Amongst other things such as chewed gum. I feel a cavity a comin'. At the coffee shop I work at they have a fly catcher, I've been trying to plot its kidnapping.

I am getting more and more interested in the painting. It's strange how at first it just looks like dots, but then over time I start seeing all this movement. Don't neglect it.
And, my oh my, those roach drawings are something else! I want to see them in person.
Do I hear Sticky Fingers plotting????
Oh, I forgot - I have that same pencil sharpener...I guess we really were meant to meet.
Sincerely,
UndOne!!!
What's with that????

If you cast the roaches in clay and then when they are leather hard add ni-chrome (kiln element) wire for the extremities, that might work--and itll hold up fairly well in a firing--do some tests, id try to stick with something kinda low-firish if you go that route. The element wire should be available in differing gauges, and if its not you may be able to draw it down--if you didnt learn how to do this in metals, speak with the metal smithing department there and they should be able to point you in the right direction--that aside, im envious of your access to clay : )
