Here is the Essay I wrote:
I spent nearly all of my allowance, birthday and Christmas money on Tiger Beat. Like most of my friends, I wallpapered my bedroom with the posters and cut-outs. I was in love with the Backstreet boys, I had an entire wall devoted to them. But my one true Tiger Beat love was Johnathan Taylor Thomas. I really was obsessed from age 6 until age 14. I wrote fan mail to him and had life sized posters in my room. I thought I was going to marry J.T.T. I saved my Tiger Beats for years and years, I had boxes. But when I went to college my mother got rid of them. I guess I forgot about all of that until I was asked to write this essay.
Tiger Beat has a nostalgic warm place in my heart. It was a big, HUGE part of my childhood. I've always wanted to attend a taping of the Oprah show, I think she's truly inspirational. It would be a great honor to attend a taping before Oprah leaves Chicago, and a pleasure to attend a fun topic like Tiger Beat! I put October 18th as my date choice but I'm available most mornings and I would move my schedule around to attend the show!!!!! Thanks for your consideration!
I really hope I get it! (the topic is Tiger Beat in case you didn't get that and thought I thought Oprah would appreciate my childhood obsession of Tiger Beat)
